Little Footprints Big Steps plans to provide education, empowerment, self-esteem and a future to 75 children who come from harsh circumstances and would not otherwise have this opportunity. With your help, they are able to have uniforms made, buy shoes and backpacks, books, pencils, paper, school tuition, transportation to the schools, and tutors to help these children be all that they are capable of being.
Access to education is a major contributor to child abandonment. As many parents in developing countries struggle to enroll their children in school and purchase supplies, families are easily bribed by promises of educational opportunities for their children - consequentially, restavek systems and for-profit orphanages have succeeded in taking advantage of parents' hopes and have convinced families to give up their children. Often, these children become victims of abuse and slavery.
Children will receive education for a year while living in a safe house or with their families. We will provide uniforms, books, tutor support and transportation to and from school for each child. Little Footprints Big Steps provides loving care to Haiti's most vulnerable children, and promotes sustainable development and strong families within Haitian communities. Your donation supports in-school, on-site, outreach support for educational needs. One child at a time, building a new way of life.
This project will educate 75 children which is critical for a child's success in school and beyond, while significantly reducing child abandonment due to poverty. When there is lack of education - knowledge of a different way, skills to think and provide differently - hope of and ability to create change in an individual, a family, a neighborhood, a community, a town is slight, but YOU can help make it happen, one person at a time, and generations can be affected.
