Homelessness is severe issue in the US. US Census Bureau estimates over 46M people are homeless currently in the US. We like to help the homeless children with their educational needs.
One out of every 45 children - some 1.6 million - in the United States is homeless, according to a report released by the National Center on Family Homelessness (2010). The factors that can lead to child homelessness, such as extreme poverty and worst-case housing needs, have worsened with the economic recession. In Austin area, Austin ISD and Monor ISD has specifically identified over 875 children that will need school supplies for school yera 2013-2014.
Hindu Charities has committed to provide much needed school supplies for most of these children next year. This will lift the burden of school supplies when the school starts for these kids. Additionally, Hindu Charities plans to award tuition scholarships for vocational and undergraduate studies working with Refugee services, ISDs and University of Texas.
The donations of school supplies lifts partial financial burden on these kids so they have the tools needed when the school year starts. This will also lift the burden of underfunded schools that can not effort to give such assistance and can divert the any funds for clothing, hygiene kits, medical and other needs. The tuition scholarships for high school kids will be used for vocational training that will give skills to earn a living. The undergraduate scholarship will help earn a degree.
