Several schools in Laos are in urgent need of renovations. Many schools are simply open bamboo huts with dirt floors, and during the rainy season children cannot even sit. They lack basic supplies.
Many schools in rural Laos suffer from neglect and lack of funds; they are unsafe and unsuitable for teaching children and lack even basic equipment, like chairs and desks. SEDA Laos is raising money to renovate 3 of the very poorest schools in Laos, where the roofs leak, there is poor electricity, no desks or chairs or any basic teaching materials. Over 1000 children will benefit from the project, improving their literacy and education and giving them a brighter future.
The project will help three schools to renovate their classrooms and buy basic materials. This includes improving school buildings, providing desks, chairs and blackboards.
The renovation of these three schools will provide a prospering place of learning for children from 20 rural villages. Access to improved education will in turn give villagers an improved chance of a sustainable and productive income.
