This project is to be implemented in Shashemane. The main objective of this project is to enable Shashemen and Tikur Wuha School's 2200 students and school staff as well as 440 families transfer environment education, skills and knowledge to their communities and play key roles to protect the earth and its resources along with greening school and contribute to positive and tangible environment impacts. .

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

There a number of problems related to the livelihood of the population and environment that includes but not limited to environmental degradation (shortage of rain, soil erosion, deforestation), low crops and livestock productivity mainly due to lack of agricultural inputs, lack of alterative source of energy, and sustained improved way of controlling environment degradation, too much dependency on firewood for energy, lack of technical knowhow, lack of capital (finance).

How will this project solve this problem?

To solve the problems the following activities will be carried out that include: the project will construct one 50m3 Digester 2 bio latrine, one communal bio kitchen, one school cafeteria bio kitchen, one septic tank, one expansion canal, one fuel saving kitchen , one roof water catchment plant, public shower with latrine and water catchment, 2 well housing and 2 model well and 2 potential sites exploration and hydrological studies.

Potential Long Term Impact

Environmental education and awareness improves natural environment conservation of schools and communities and strengthen their joint action. Create strong linkage between community and school through enhancing information, skills and knowledge sharing and increasingly utilizing biogas, reducing dependence on fire wood for energy, increasing coverage of land by forest and create the culture and practices of greening school compound, household backyard.
