Summary

AJESH presently executing a Global Fund Funded project dubbed "Scaling Up Malaria Control for Impact in Cameroon". 2011-2015. In the course of implementation the following problems we identified: Some household where not censured, Some people who have collected their LLINs are not sleeping under, Majority of pregnant women in local communities do not take IPT (i.e. they do not attend ANC) nor finish the complete doses. We so seek fsupport to carry out advocacy actions to solve these problems.

Challenge

Despite the efforts made in 2009 : The Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) use rate among pregnant women and under-five children is still low: 13% Percentage of uncomplicated malaria cases adequately treated with first-line drugs among under-five children : 58% IPT2 among pregnant women : 37 % Malaria remains the leading morbidity (41%) and mortality (43%) in health facilities (2008) in Cameroon.

Solution

Lobby the Divisional Officer get the population effectively participate during household registration, LLINS transportation and distribution. Hold one enlarge advocacy meeting with 22 authorities for them carry out sensitization on the importance of sleeping under LLINs every night organize advocacy dialogue forum with Head Teachers, principals disseminate malaria messages in schools organize with chiefs, councilors and religious leaders to sensitise men and women on IPT and ANC importance

Long-Term Impact

Reduce by 50% morbidity and mortality malaria related cases. Increase to at least 80% the use of LLINs in the entire population and particularly among children under five and pregnant women; Raise to at least 80% IPT2 coverage among pregnant women; Treat, according to the national malaria guidelines, at least 80% of malaria cases, at all levels;
