Michelle Schireman - Lead western pond turtle keeper, Oregon Zoo
Michelle Schireman is the lead Oregon Zoo keeper for the western pond turtle conservation project. Her duties include caring for the turtles during their ten months at the Zoo and talking with the public about ways to protect endangered turtles. She's also a cougar expert and serves as the puma population manager for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Dr. David Shepherdson - Deputy Conservation Manager, Oregon Zoo
Dr. David Shepherdson has worked for the Oregon Zoo since 1991 and has published widely in the fields of conservation, science education, and the mental and physical well-being of zoo animals. One of his major research interests is the supplementation and re-establishment of threatened and endangered animals, such as the western pond turtle.
Amy Cutting - Curator, Oregon Zoo
Amy Cutting has been with the Oregon Zoo since 2002, as a keeper, senioor keeper and curator with a specialization in North American animals. She also works with Polar Bears International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the worldwide conservation of the polar bear and its habitat through research and education.
