We are thrilled to announce that Wild for Life Foundation's project, SAVING AMERICA'S HORSES Coast to Coast has successful met the GlobalGiving challenge! This would not have happened without YOUR support! Your kind and generous donations to our project were crucial to our success and in going above and beyond to spread the word on behalf of this project, it was YOUR support that made all the difference.
April was a busy month for us both in raising support to meet the GlobalGiving challenge and in working to bring the message of this important film to more viewers. On April 1st, the day that the challenge kicked off, Saving America's Horses' cast members, Paula Bacon, John Holland, Susan Wagner, Jo Anne Normile, Dr. Lester Friedlander and Katia Louise appeared and spoke at the 2012 Equine Summit in Albany, New York, where a private screening of the feature film, "Saving America's Horses" was presented. News and coverage of the Summit went viral and the screening was a major success. On April 3rd, the featurette of SAVING AMERICA'S HORSES premiered to attendees of the Summit of the Live Horse in Oklahoma City where more people were able to preview the scope of this project. During the week of April 11-15th, SAVING AMERICA'S HORSES took Kansas City Film Fest by Storm and won the highest 5 STAR votes by a landslide -- it was the most popular and talked about film in the KC Film Festival. Former mayor Paula Bacon and cast member/ former Chief USDA Inspector Dr Lester Friedlander joined filmmaker Katia Louise in MO for the screening. And thanks to a generous donor, a special SAVING AMERICA'S HORSES' trailer played at the top of every movie all week long, putting America’s horses front and center. On April 21st, a Private Industry Screening of SAVING AMERICA'S HORSES was held in Los Angeles where it swept viewers off their feet, empowering them and inspiring them to get involved on behalf of the horses. The film screened to a full house and guests lingered for hours after the showing as they formed new bonds and discussed ways to take action for the protection of America's horses from barbaric elimination and slaughter.
Throughout the entire month of April supporters were posting on their social media pages, sending emails, and making phone calls about the need to support SAVING AMERICA'S HORSES through the GlobalGiving challenge. As of May 1st, 2012, this project raised $1600 through the GlobalGiving challenge. Those funds once received from GlobalGiving will be utilized to bring the important educational film resource, SAVING AMERICA'S HORSES to more viewers coast to coast.
SAVING AMERICA'S HORSES has won multiple international awards through the festival circuit where it is currently being showcased, however to bring this film to public release, funds must be raised to pay for post production expenses. The fund raising goal for this project is currently set at $35,000, which will pay for many expenses like transcription, color correction, digital processing, final audio mix, digital cinema distribution master, subtitles, film rating, legal, shipping, printing and general fees.
The $1600 raised as of 5/1/12, will go toward the $3000 needed for pending licenses.
The GlobalGiving fund raising platform will help us to reach a new global audience of supporters. Thanks to YOUR support, SAVING AMERICA'S HORSES has a permanent place on GlobalGiving to help us save and raise awareness for a nation of horses now and into the future.
With gratitude, Katia Louise
