Update on Saving Mexico´s Golden Eagle
The Horologium, S. A de C. V, (Mexico´s Breilting Distributor) and FMCN alliance that we reported to you in our previous update was a complete success. The 250 limited edition Breitling watches were sold by May 2013 and we were able to raise $US 200,000 for our Golden Eagle project.
Recently we concrete a new phase of our collaborative campaign with City Express Hotels, where $1.00 Mexican peso will be donated by their guests for each day of stay, City Express wil match with an addition peso and MFCN will add another one.
The conservation of habitat and monitoring activities are already running specifically in 5 priority regions that have a significant presence of Golden Eagles: Baja California, Janos (the northern border between Sonora and Chihuahua), Maderas del Carmen (the northern border between Chihuahua and Coahuila), Northeast Center (Zacatecas, Coahuila, Nuevo León and San Luis Potosí) and the Central Zone (Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosí, Jalisco and Guanajuato) (see attached map) while we continue our fund raising efforts. We are in the process of building an alliance with Discovery Channel and Mundo Animal (Animal World) ro produce a Golden Eagle documentary that will be shown during prime time of the Natural History Channel and Animal Planet.
Thanks to your effort and support we are viewing a better future for this emblematic bird of prey. In our next report we will show you our first results of implementation of the project regarding conservation and monitoring.
