Dear Friends,

Thanks for your continued support to SANTI. Truly the SANTI building is a masterpiece for our children as well as for our organization. because,

  • We are able to run the sewing classes inside the partially finished building.
  • Recently we organized a 3 days leadership program geared towards local youth under Nehru Yuva Kendra Program. This was not been possible in past because of expensive rental for such a suitable venue.
  • We also conducted a 3 days workshop on health and sanitization for local women by Mahila Arogya Samiti (MAS). This was highly praised by Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO).
  • SANTI is also requested to conduct a 7 days Health Worker Training Program and we are looking forward to organize this in near future.

So far, we have finished the interior and exterior plaster for 4 rooms, 2 toilets with fittings, one Kitchen with utility provision, doors and windows in main rooms. But we still need to complete the construction to unlock the best potential.

We need your support to finish verandah or patio work from bottom to top, water tanks, Toilet safety tank, staircase, remaining doors and windows, electrical fittings, plastering, plumbing, painting etc.

Without your support we couldn’t have achieved this masterpiece and without your continued future support we cannot finish this noble venue please come forward to donate.

Thanks

Ashok Dandpat

Friends wish you a great 2015 ahead and wish to bring more happiness to SANTI children and youth.

In the last reporting for building roof I mentioned we were about to start training in new building and now yes we are proud to say that the building is partially built. We have finished one room, two rest rooms and started to train young students. Training is in full swing with five sewing machine and dedicated students.

We are a result oriented organization and I strongly believe SANTI youth should generate its own income. We are working hard on our goal to achieve that goal. So far we have helped local tailors to finish their work and SANTI youth were able to bring about 200 USD from their work.  The accounting related to this initiative is managed by SANTI youth and profits were distributed among these students. The money they have generated so far ignited the fire inside them to learn better the sewing skills.

To ensure we are doing appropriate work, we invited few officers to visit our building and provide feedback on children progress.   As of now Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Block Development Officer (BDO), District Child Protection Officer, District Youth Co-coordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and couple of other respected authorities have been visited SANTI. They all provided excellent feedback and impressed by our work. They expressed good words about adding value to the young generation of local area. As a donor you are part of this initiative and should be proud of your contributions.

We haven’t stopped working on the building construction and we want to continue because if we don’t then we will never be able to finish the building construction. Next focus is to finish the hallway and other rooms along with outside finishing.

Unfortunately, we are negative cash flow for this project and strongly need your support. Let’s put all put our energy to finish this building and provide a venue to self reliant SANTI youth.

Thanks for your continued support.

Dear friends it is a good time to pause and see how we are doing regarding our current work on roof building project.

In past few months, during the construction of the building, we faced few challenges. Heavy rain fall was a major one and delayed our project. Also as you know we started to complete only one room with the roof but realized that will be a wrong thing to do. So we moved forward with completing roof for all rooms. That was all possible because Mr. Pati arranged the deficit funding from his friends as well as local shop keepers. So we are building the house with lending money from other supporters. This shows true spirit to complete the building in a timely manner so that we can do better teaching to these children.

Good news is that we are about to finish one room. This will help us to start teaching and vocational training in next month or so.

As we are shortage of funding to complete this building, it will impact our other activities, but we are trying our best to close open ends.

After the year end, we will provide updated budget sheet with negative numbers for the roof building project.

Please come forward to support and donate to this project. As most of you know completing the building with this big footage is not possible with 6-8K USD (3-4 Lakh INR).

Thanks

Ashok Dandpat

Dear friends,

Building the roof to train children is a really required venue for SANTI. We are having difficulty to conduct the skill training for our teenage students. Thanks for your support to start this dream project. Upon completion, this will be the center for SANTI’s activities. This will help us to bring all activities at one place, maximizing our efforts and time and minimizing various expenses.

Construction of the roof was started on 14th July 2014. Mr Sarat Pati was really excited to start this work with boots on the ground. As of now we have used 3 metric tons of mild-steel rod and 300 bags of cement for concrete. Currently work in progress :) noble work..

Last year January when we estimated the cost to finish the building it was humongous and I personally postponed the idea. Later last year we reevaluated the cost and again postponed. Then this year march, we again re-evaluated the options and realized that we have to move forward. If cannot move a mile then move an inch and hence we broke the project into several pieces.

I asked for an estimate to finish only one room, door, windows, two toilets and a bore well. The estimate was about USD 6424. When we started to work we realized that we have to finish the roof for all rooms and hence our roof got extended to 3000 Sq ft area. This increased our budget to USD 10250. So currently we are planning to finish the roof for the whole building and then finish only one hall or room that will be used for training.  In future we will progress through the work to finish all the rooms.

We had to stop the work due to heavy rain in Odisha. It will create about 3 weeks of delay in our progress. The roof slab will be completed within next 4 weeks.  We are expecting to use one room for our training around end of October.

As you know Rome wasn’t built in a day or by a couple of man, we need your support to make dream come true. Please step in to contribute as we are falling short on our goal. Any comments or feedback feel free to provide.

Thanks again
