Dear Kind Hearts
Greetings from SANKALP team
Well the year 2013 began on a very encouraging note and indeed this was only possible because you all stood by our side to participate in the noble cause of helping developmentally disabled/underprivileged children of SANKALP and extended your generous support by donating during the winter challenge of Global Giving and helped us win a permanent spot for one year on the site. We have received the disbursement from Global Giving in the last week of Feb.
THANK YOU very much we have no words to express our gratitude for your kindness and generosity. Every donation will ensure that we can continue helping the targeted community. We assure you that this money will be utilized only for the cause that we are working for and we will keep you with the progress and what accomplishments we have achieved from time to time.
Our awareness program about SANKALP’s activities inspired two other nonprofit organizations to extend support to SANKALP. M/s Larsen & Toubro’s ladies welfare association “DARSHAN” has agreed to sponsor setting up of a physiotherapy unit with a sensory integrated room while another NGO “The White Page” has decided to sponsor therapy cost for five of our children.
With improved fund availability we have already appointed a fulltime experienced speech therapist so that the facility of speech therapy is made available to the needy children from presently alternate days to daily and instead of one hour to a much longer duration. This will certainly speed up the rehabilitation process of children with speech impairment. All the equipment for physiotherapy unit has been ordered and preparation of sensory integration room is also in progress. Both these are expected to be commissioned by 15th March and we shall also appoint an experienced physiotherapist by then.
SANKALP’s children took part in the “Kite flying festival” organized by United Way of Baroda for disable persons from various centers of Vadodara on 11th Jan., 2013. They also had a feast at McDonalds’ on 21st Jan. besides having a picnic at a farmhouse on 22nd Jan.
State Bank of India’s IFB branch once again expressed their support to SANKALP by donating one set of uniform to the children on 21st of January. A team of their senior officials visited SANKALP and interacted with children and also distributed a packet containing snacks to the children.
A parent meet was held with all the parents on 10th Feb. During this meet they were given a brief about the Individual Education Plan being run by SANKALP for their children. They were also given general guidance about do’s & don’ts to be followed by them at home and thereafter one to one counseling by the in-charge SANKALP and the speech therapist with child specific advice.
Photographs of all these activities would be uploaded very shortly on our website www.mpctrust.org
With a very heavy heart we would like to inform you about sad demise of one of Sankalp’s child, Razzaq Khan aged 6 years after a brief illness, on 20th Feb. Razzaq was suffering from Down’s syndrome. We pray to almighty GOD that this soul rest in peace and his parent be given courage to bear their loss.
Let’s share what one of SANKALP’s volunteer Ms. Arati Desai has to say:
“The team selflessly works to creating a happy and healthy environment for the children with disability. I was specifically impressed with the level of personal interest and awareness for each individual child. The level of commitment of the team is recommendable. With additional support, I am sure that the organization will be able to reach out to more children.”
We once again sincerely thank you all from the bottom of our heart for your generous assistance to SANKALP but we still have a long way to go and we can achieve our goal only with the help of your continued support.
