Help us set up an Internet Center that will generate funds for a Haitian run grassroots community development organization in the Dominican Republic. Empower the community with connection to the web.
Saman is neighborhood with a high population of Haitians living in the Dominican Republic. The Dominicans that live in this community are low income as well as the Haitians. The majority of the households lack work opportunity or the necessary skills to obtain work. The government pays no attention to this community and provides no relief for things such as the continual flooding that occurs, Haitian children with no guardians, and others who die with no one to bury them or take responsibility.
Run by a community development organization that works together wtih a few U.S. universities to work toward alleviating some of these community problems, the internet center will provide funds to go toward development and education for the community.
Generating funds will allow the Haitian run community development organization to take control and work toward solutions year round rather than only having funds through partnering universities. This will allow them to grow as they serve 500 families
