Enable the residents of Fordnagar Mollapara to improve their health and use their time for economic development by building and maintaining a sustainable safe water & sanitation system.
The 2250 residents of rural Fordnagar Mollapara struggle to meet their daily water needs. They use unreliable shallow tubewells for drinking water. They must wash and bathe in extremely contaminated ponds that are also used by the cattle. The villagers can pay some of the capital costs of and all maintenance costs for a new water system. Our Bangladeshi partner organization will work with them to develop and implement a sustainable community water supply and sanitation system.
The project includes construction of hand pumps, drainage facilities, and household latrines.
Provide access to safe, adequate water supply and to sanitation; improve hygiene habits; train the community to maintain its improved water supply and sanitation facilities.
