The project will try to identify the enabling framework that would have a positive impact on private sector participation in agricultural development in Lebanon.
Given the endemic lack of adequate government interest and care of the livelihood of rural communities in Lebanon, the project aims at introducing the private sector as a catalyst for rural poverty alleviation, through adopting alternative and comprehensive policies that would fill the current gap. Moreover, the project tends to propose an enabling framework that would empower the private sector in its developmental ventures.
The project aims at the empowerment and involvement of the private sector in the rural development process, through creating an enabling framework, especially at the public policy level.
The project will confer better living conditions for the rural communities, increase their output and productivity, consolidate their contribution to GDP, lower rural unemployment, and limit the flux of rural workers to already congested cities.
