Summary
To create secure jobs in the rural area of
Igbeagu-Izzi the project gives 10 women and men the machineries and training for processing and marketing of parboiled rice for the reduction of migration.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
In Igbeagu-Izzi more than 90% of the population live from agriculture. The farmers have generally only small lands (average of 2 hectares) which they are able to cultivate by hand. They face many barries to progress and have few opportunities for income. Specially young people loose often hope for the future and try to migrate. Their concern is how to earn an income which can improve the quality of life. Therefore the Project IZZI has startet programs to create secure jobs.
How will this project solve this problem?
1. Cooking of raw rice in big pots. 2. Drying on mats.
3. Milling of the dried rice in the huller. 4. Cleaning of the milled rice in the distoner. 5. Filling the rice in ricebags (10, 20, 50 kg). 6. Marketing.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project makes it possible that 10 people with their extended families escape poverty in a rural area.
