Retrak will work with local organizations to help some of the thousands of children living on the streets in Kenya to return to a family setting, with either their own family or a foster family.
There are thousands of children living and working on the streets of Kenya's main towns and cities who suffer hunger, violence, poverty and abuse. Street children have no protection and are among the most vulnerable children in the world. Charities working in Kenya are often small and inexperienced in enabling children to return to families.
Retrak's work in Uganda and Ethiopia has demonstrated the effectiveness of returning a child to a caring and stable family environment. We want to expand our reach into Kenya by training local charities on reintegration and foster care and helping them to return 24 children to families, so that they learn how to help even more children to grow and develop within a loving family.
The 24 children and their families who will benefit from Retrak's help will be better equipped to realize their potential and break away from the vicious cycle of poverty and homelessness. The local organizations in Kenya will continue to help even more children and families in the future.
