ONCE AGAIN WE'RE MAKING IT/ UNA VEZ MAS LO ESTAMOS LOGRANDO

(VER VERSION EN ESPAÑOL ABAJO)

“Cause being different makes us equal”

It’s true that our campaign “Rethinking Down Syndrome in Colombia” keeps reaching more and more new places, not only in our Caribbean Region but in the whole world. Through the message our flyers give, we constantly invite people to change their perspective towards people with Down syndrome, making others understand them as equals, with same rights and duties.

2011’s last trimester was a period of great activity for FUNDOWN CARIBE, we executed awareness activities with 200 students in the city of Barranquilla and the town of Puerto Colombia. 250 teachers were benefited from our conferences and we had the opportunity to share, as well, with more than 150 parents of people with Down syndrome, in the scheduled workshops.

-Do you like to work and be useful? Me too. That makes us equal.

-We both go to the same school, that makes us equal.

These are some of the messages we’ve been carrying around the city with the help of publicitary advertisements, encouraging the rights of people with DS, which should be respected every day.  Little by little we are closer to achieve one of our main goals, making new opportunities possible to them in an inclusive environment.

On behalf of FUNDOWN CARIBE’s team we want to thank you for supporting us during 2011, by getting us one step closer to our goal. We’ve gathered the 50% of the campaign value, but still there’s so much left to do. We invite you to keep going with this cause throughout 2012.
