On September 27, 2012 a camp for screening Diabetic and Cataract patients was held at Chapadaha under Gaibandha Sadar. Before holding the camp, wide publicity was given so that more and more people attend the camp.
An Awareness campaign on Diabetic as well as on Eye Care was also held at the site before starting diabetic and eye tests. Speakers consisted of Diabetic Specialists, Eye Specialists and Prominent Social Workers. About 3000 people attended the Program.
About 500 people attended the Cataract Screening Camp held on September 27. 35 were detected having cataract. These patients attended our hospital on October 05, 2012. Necessary tests were conducted. Cataract operations were conducted on October 12, 2012 by a team consisted of an Ophthalmic Surgeon, an Ophthalmic Consultant, an Eye Specialist and two Nurses. Since the last Project Report, 69 Cataract Operations were conducted. The new Operation Microscope purchased in 2010 was used for cataract surgery.
Starting from 8:00 AM the operation continued till 3:00 PM. The patients took rest for about three hours. They were allowed to go home after post operation check up.
