Greetings to our fellow animal supporters! I must admit that it has been slow going 'round here. We started off the year with a bang! Completing the GG April Challenge was a fantastic start, thanks to all of you. Mother Nature looked to be cooperating early and gave us a lot of nice and nourishing rain. The rain, however, turned into a double-edged sword. Too much of a good thing... Looking back at the flooded pasture pictures, it is hard to believe that now, just two months later, our pastures that once supported the growth of grass for ruffage, has turned sparse and barren. So now that we have decided what to do about it, we need to wait our turn to get our project started. We have spent a lot of time researching types of drainage systems for this type of farm land. We have located the person highly recommended in this area. He is the most familiar with this type of soil and has the most experience installing field drainage tiles. Once this planting season is complete, he'll have time to assess our project. I am very excited about that! Please be patient as I believe our next project report will be highly detailed and overflowing with pictures. Of course, I would love your continued support, but to me, it is more important that you find a project that you love, and get involved! This month, my suggestion to you is Fences for Fido. Check them out! Do some good, whatever that good may be! www.fencesforfido.org On behalf of of our horses, cats, dogs, and anything else that comes our way, thank you so much for your support of Bertell Farms!
