More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

La Limonada, one of Guatemala City’s poorest and most depressed ghettos, has many unemployed widowed or single mothers. So far, this project has provided a source of income for 8 of these women and their families. La Limonada also suffers from a major waste disposal problem because the people cannot afford a waste recollection service. This project also provides a recycling center to help alleviate the waste disposal problem while also collecting resources for the women’s eco-weaving business.

Activities

This project will provide marketing and financial assistance in order to make their products more profitable. If the eco-weaving business improves, it will stimulate the economy and improve the environment and lives of several families in Guatemala.

Resources

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

As long as resources are available, we hope to provide as many women as possible the opportunity to create eco-friendly products and stimulate their income. This project will improve the environment and lives of the people in La Limonada.

Project Message

The community where we are working is extremely poor, so the need for an income for these women is enormous. This economic opportunity allows them to generate income while improving the environment.
