Mr. Lin's story

Blindness is like the prison of my soul.  I feel meaningless and empty in my life. Fortunately, I learned screen reader and computer courses.  I can reconnect with the world now!” by Mr. Lin

Mr. Lin owns a company, but his eyes had serious problems three years ago. When he became legally blind, he fell into a deep abyss of depression.  His heart was closed, and he didn’t go out.  For three years, he only went to his company and didn’t go anywhere.  Sometimes there are some NGO trying to help him, but he refused.

During this period, Mr. Lin lost his connection with the world.  Taiwan Digital Talking Books Association (TDTB) helped Mr. Lin use screen reader, and he can operate computer well now.  “I feel so good,” he said.  “I can use e-mail; I can browse the websites as well.”  The Most important of all, he finally goes out from darkness and gets his smile back.

Recording of Daisy Books

From March to May, TDTB has finished three books.    The topics of these books include Literature, Traditional Custom, Education, Novel, Life philosophy, Children Book, and so on.   Visually impaired people can join our member for free.  And members of this DAISY platform can download our daisy books on the platform: http://www.tdtb.org/daisybooks/  We believe our books can give the visually impaired more information.

Volunteer Training

We have accomplished a volunteer training course, which is about DAISY book production.

TDTB cooperate with a famous company in Taiwan: Everlight Electronics.   Everlight Electronics plays an important role in the global LED industry.  On May 17th, TDTB sent two teachers to Everlight Electronics, and there were about twenty employees in Everlight Electronics attending this volunteer training.  In the training, teacher taught those volunteers how to edit a document, how to make a table of contents.  At the end of the training class, most of volunteers made a DAISY book successfully, and they felt happy to contribute their time and energy to help visually impaired people.
