Recording of Digital Talking Books
In August, Taiwan Digital Talking Books Association (TDTB) chose ten books to record. In order to train our volunteers and improve the quality of talking books, we held a training class for our recording volunteers. There were about 50 people coming to this training class, and we chose ten volunteers with good voices and enthusiasm out of this class to record talking books. At the end of August, we finished three digital talking books, and other seven books were still on going.
Computer Training Courses
With your support, we were able to teach 22 visually impaired, for totally 156 hours in August. Our computer courses include screen reader (NVDA), computer basics, surfing the internet, E-mail basics, facebook, windows, MS word and Youtube. With these computer classes, the visually impaired can learn computer skills and acquire information more independently.
One of our client said, “Thanks for providing me a lot of information. Since I took the courses of NVDA during August, I have accelerated the searching speed and read e-mails more quickly. And my eyes were also protected because I needed not to operate computer with my eyes. Thank you, TDTB.”
Distribution of free USB flash disks with NVDA and Chinese language synthesizer (MTTS)
Also, we offer 84 free thumb disks with screen reader software installed thereon. With free screen reader (NVDA) and speech synthesizer, the visually impaired can operate computer easily and learn more skills and information through the internet.
We are greatly thankful to all donors, and we will continue our work and do our best to help the visually impaired in Taiwan!
