Summary

A storm destroyed Magaya Primary structures four years ago. Rozaria Memorial Trust is supporting with the rehabilitation of the school, with construction of two classroom blocks. The school located in Murewa District in Zimbabwe has a total enrollment of 500 students. The quality of education is affected by lack of facilities. The Australian Government has provided building materials to the school. Now, we have been able to roof the 6 class rooms. We seeking donations for finishing and furniture

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Magaya primary school, which celebrates is centenary in 2012 was destroyed by a storm four years ago; leaving over 500 student with no decent learning environment. Due to the economic and political crisis, it has been a struggle for the rehabilitation to take place and student's access to quality education has been adversely affected. This is a school is in a rural resource poor community. RMT and the school has been able to raise two classroom blocks, which need roofing before rains.

How will this project solve this problem?

The project will enable at least 500 children with decent learning environment. RMT has engaged the expertise of local builders and other volunteers to carry out the work. This will compliment the materials already received from the Australian Embassy.Through this project we will be able to provide some payment for the builders and purchase the other still building material. The deep commitment of the school administration and the former student continued to be pivotal.

Potential Long Term Impact

Magaya primary school has a positive learning environment for its 500 students. Increased quality of education and student teacher motivation. Quality education for 500 students delivered through creation of students friendly learning spaces; Improved working environment among teaching staff at Magaya school. Increased enrollments of students. General improvement of quality of life in the community.
