BushBlok

BushBlok

Bush-choked savannah

Bush-choked savannah
The grass savannahs of sub-saharan Africa are literally being choked by invasive acacia bushes that sport needle-sharp thorns. These bushes destroy wildlife habitat as well as grazing land for livestock.

Beginning the Restoration Process

Beginning the Restoration Process
The bush is harvested, allowed to dry, then chipped on the spot. The chipped bush is then taken to the BushBlok manufacturing plant in Otjiwarongo, Namibia, where it is turned into BushBlok, a fuel log.

The Extrusion Process

The Extrusion Process
The chips are exposed to high heat, causing the wood to naturally glue itself together, and formed into "logs".
