Families from Al Aqaba Village ask your help to build affordable, expandable homes on the land they own. 97% of this Palestinian West Bank Village is under demolition order by the Israeli Army. Families want to build their homes because otherwise their village will cease to exist. They will help with construction, repay affordable mortgage loans, and match your donation in this constructive fair housing initiative. Together, let's share the risk and build advocacy to make them safe.
Refusal to approve Palestinian town plans or issue building permits is now policy in the 62% of the West Bank solely controlled by Israel. Under Israel's freedom of information act, the Israeli Human Rights Group BIMKOM.org recently received Israeli Army data showing over 12,500 demolition orders against Palestinian homes, schools, and shops. Al Aqaba's lawyers say Demolition Orders never get reversed. Families who hold title to their Al Aqaba land are ready to build homes despite the risk.
Rebuilding to Remain helps Palestinian families build their homes on the land they own through democratic planning/design, village-issued building permits, crowd source Islamic-compliant mortgage financing and worldwide advocacy. The villagers are investing their life savings to build homes. We match their investment and share the risk: if a home is demolished, the remaining mortgage loan is forgiven until occupancy is restored.
Al Aqaba's villagers now have nearly completed for their first 3 'Rebuilding to Remain' homes. Help build 27 more homes and keep them all safe. Villagers hope their homes will grow in love & value, give their town a future, and offer a neighborly model for peace. Their success can end Israel's ongoing demolition of Palestinian homes and help meet the planning needs of the 150,000 Palestinians who live in the 62% of the West Bank now administered solely by Israel.
In order to do something BIG - to think globally and act globally - one starts with something small and one starts where it counts.
