Birmingham, AL - Habitat still helping families recover

This week, summer officially starts - a new season begins. Time marches on.

It's hard to believe how much time has passed since the devastating tornadoes roared through our community - almost fifteen months since April 27, 2011.

Over the past fifteen months, we have had the opportunity to assist 105 families with their post disaster construction needs. Over 4,000 volunteers and hundreds of donors and supporters have helped those families on the road to recovery.

Many of those repairs and rebuilds have been in partnership with other organizations, as the community as a whole has rallied to help individuals and families in need, like Ms. Patterson, whose before and after photos are featured in this update. Ms. Patterson was a Pratt City native, whose home was destroyed on April 27, 2011. We were happy to help Ms. Patterson have a new place to call her own earlier this year.

Each month, more people are applying for help as they realize they continue to have needs unmet by other sources. There is still much to be done to help people impacted by the storms. Your donation will support our recovery efforts in the Greater Birmingham area - like Ms. Patterson.
