When children and parents loose hope, families fall apart. As much as parents may wish to keep their children safe, the means to do so, may not be there. Children go looking for food, hoping to find something and end up on the streets. Street children are vulnerable to rape, disease, child labor, drug abuse. The circumstances are extreme & these children need help and support. CREP Uganda is providing support needed & rehabilitating 50 street children in Mbale to re-unite them to their families
Health conditions are poor, and the children don't have access to basic needs like shelter, medical, education, food and family care and love. Many of the children use drugs and have nowhere else to turn. We believe that through re-uniting them with their families, while further providing them with basic needs particularly shelter, medical and education could help them grow into productive, responsible members of the community.
By giving the children hope and a chance at a life where they are nurtured, loved and supported they will have a chance to contribute to their communities and set the example, where some of them may become mentors in the program for the children that follow, as they learn to be safe and are loved by their families. The first step is to help the first 50 so that other children can see there is a chance, there is hope and their community does care for them.
Since the future next generation lies in the hands of children, helping them realize their dream is an investment in the community as a whole. Poverty is still the biggest challenge and building a better foundation for these children, giving them and their families the skills they need could have positive effect on reducing poverty and creating stronger more resilient families.
