Working with a respected international relief organization, we are sending an all-in-one solar & wind-up radio, light and cell phone charger to support earthquake & tsunami survivors.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan caused unprecedented devastation leaving an estimated half-a-million people displaced - including a disproportionate number of the elderly. Due to the nuclear explosions, the government has introduced rolling blackouts. Displaced survivors urgently need on-demand access to information, light and energy to charge their cell phones. Information and communication at a time of crisis can be just as important as food and shelter.
How will this project solve this problem?
Our Polaris all-in-one radio, light & cell-phone charger will provide updates about the continuing emergency, warn of impending dangers and play music for psycho-social support. The LED light will help families navigate in darkness.
Potential Long Term Impact
The reliable Polaris will help ease the anxiety of the displaced, both in the short-term and in the months to come, and provide a practical solution for information, light and connection to others.
