In partnership with local NGOs, Freeplay Foundation enables South African AIDS orphans to receive health and hygiene advice, basic education and vital life skills training via self-powered radio
AIDS orphans aged 9 and younger head households and support siblings alone in South African townships and rural communities. Radio information and education prevent the spread of AIDS and enable vulnerable children to survive. Lifeline self-powered radios need no batteries. They provide constant companionship and vital advice no longer available from parents. Radios also extend the reach and capacity of local NGO staff and community care givers to support thousands of destitute children
Freeplay Foundation partners with numerous NGOs to develop radio projects for AIDS orphans. We provide Lifeline radios, give structured training in radio distribution and support project monitoring. Many thousand orphans receive practical aid
AIDS orphans are among the most isolated, stigmatized, and vulnerable children. A Lifeline radio integrates them within their community. Through radio education they avoid disease, acquire education in life skills and gain advice on income-generation
