Summary
Your donation will help educate 10,000 parents about preparing their 9th graders for college. New Visions publishes "Aiming Higher" each year in English and Spanish.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
In most high schools, students don't truly begin planning for college until the 11th or 12th grade. Delaying the conversation until the junior year hurts our students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college, because they miss out on the information they need to get ahead early and maximize their chances for success.
How will this project solve this problem?
Funding will go directly to the publication and distribution of Aiming Higher, our 9th grade parent guide (app. $1/guide). We use the guide with 9th grade students, teachers, and families, so they can work together to make sure students get on track.
Potential Long Term Impact
Students whose families benefit from this information are more likely to get on track and stay on track for college.
Project Message
Parent involvement is essential to student academic success. The New Visions’ 9th grade parents guide helps parents get their 9th grader onto a strong start on the road to a successful future.
