Summary
This project will provide the essential medicines, material, place and staff to assist 350 women and 250 infants per month in Kisii, Kenya.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
There are 1,322,000 births in Kenya each year. About 13,000 women die as a result of improper care during pregnancy and delivery. In addition to that, there are 61,400 annual stillbirths and 43,600 annual neonatal death cases. 27% of the annual neonatal death cases are caused by infections that could be easily avoided if patients had access to a sanitized clinic. The beneficiaries of this project will be women at reproductive age, pregnant women, adolescent girls and newborns.
How will this project solve this problem?
In order to provide the essential health care of 600 people per month, we need a sanitized place, basic maternal health equipments, supplies and furniture that are required to provide the care they need.
Potential Long Term Impact
The long term impact of this project will be to decrease the mortality rate of women and children in Kenya and to decrease the number of unwanted pregnancies in the region.
