Galela Amanzi fundraises to establish and maintain 26 rainwater tanks in various selected schools and community groups that do not have access to clean and safe water.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
By placing rainwater tanks in schools and community groups that do not have access to clean and safe water; communities are able to maintain sustainable vegetable gardens which provide food to families in their community; and schools are prevented from potential closure due sanitary issues. 13 Schools (Fikizolo Primary, S. Ntsiko Primary, Tantyi Primary etc.) and community groups (Masihlumisane community garden, Temba TB Hospital) in Grahamstown. 13 Outreach- Areas outside Grahamstown.
How will this project solve this problem?
By placing rainwater tanks in select areas communities are able to maintain sustainable vegetable gardens and provide food to families in their community; and schools are prevented from potential closure due sanitary issues.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project hopes to encourage the community to care about developing a healthy, stable community. Furthermore, rain water tanks will highlight the potential to reduce the demand on the limited South African municipal water supply.
