Here’s some news to brighten your day: Thanks in part to you – our GlobalGiving donors, 13 beneficiaries have completed their vocational training in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The included photo shows the graduates who completed their skills training in the following areas: Soap Making, Hairdressing, Sewing Tailoring, Gara Tie-dying and Batik, Adult Literacy. The graduates who have received this income-empowering training are now equipped and able to either start their own business or partner with an existing business.
Experts agree that providing skills training is a vital key to development as it provides a path to empowerment. This vocational training is essential and crucial as it empowers those active in the second economy and helps stimulate economic growth. This training has helped to unleash their potential. The training has helped to give them a voice and enabled them to support their families. Yeanor, one of the beneficiaries in her vote of thanks at the graduation ceremony expressed her gratitude to all donors who helped support the program. She confidently stated “We are no longer marginalized young women. We have been instilled with a sense of participation and recognition”.
These lives have been impacted and will never, ever be the same again. Thanks for helping effect this change and transform their lives.
