Mayenje Community

By a female, 46-60 years old , in Busia, Kenya
Map of MAYENJE COMMUNITY The Mayenje community for a very long time was experiencing low productivity in crop production. Th e farmers in this area lacked knowledge on crop production and livestock farming and as a result agricultural productivity in the area was very low compared to other areas. In 2001, the 4 K club organisation started its operations in the area through the Mayenje primary school by teaching the pupils on methods of farming and effective farming using the manure using soil, ashes, animal dung, leaves and other materials. In that year, the school was able to produce enough food that was sold out to the entire Mayenje community. This club began its operations in the entire community and thought the community members about zero grazing and crop production which led to increased agricultural productivity in the area and from that very moment agricultural productivity in the area has significantly improved and changed lives in the Mayenje community. Thanks to the 4K club group. Read more.
