As the school year was wrapping up, we hosted our 2nd annual Globemed 5K/Fun Run during Memorial Day Weekend. It was a great success and had over 50 participants attend the either the 5K or Fun Run. We also held fundraiser events at Coldstone Creamery and Cheesie's where we got a cut of the restaurant's profits for that night. We are excited to continue relationships with Evanston businesses and hopefully conduct more restaurant nights in the fall.
As summer is going along, Globemed at Northwestern his hitting the final stretch of preparation before our GROW (Grassroots On-site Work) team heads off to Namugoga, Uganda. They leave on August 4th and will be staying about a month conducting research on sanitation and hopefully understanding more the needs of this community. This will be Globemed at Northwestern's first trip to Namugoga, Uganda and we are so excited to start what will be an amazing and mutually beneficial relationship with the Adonai Famil Centre. We are on our way to accomplishing our fundraising goal in order to successfully build a latrine, water tank, and visitors center at Adonai. We are so excited for the GROW team to come back with meaningful experiences and lessons so we can continuously work on building this relationship.
Thank you so much for your support throughout the year of 2013. Our goals would not be realized without you and we are incredibly grateful for your efforts. We are excited for what next year will bring and we hope you are too!
