GlobeMed at Northwestern recently started our final, and busiest, quarter of the academic year. Just two weeks ago, the GlobeMed Summit took place in Evanston, IL on the Northwestern University Campus. Students from GlobeMed chapters all around the country came to hear from experts in public and global health as well as learn about GlobeMed programming across the nation.
Currently, we are planning our Second Annual 5K and Fun Run which will take place next month. The morning will start with a 5K race followed by a “fun run” comprised of various obstacles such as leap frogging, wheel barrowing, hopscotch, a three-legged race, and more. Additionally, we will be having smaller fundraisers at local businesses throughout the quarter--all to raise money for our projects at the Adonai Child Development Center.
Our GROW (GrassRoots On-site Work) team of students is busily preparing themselves to travel to Namugoga this summer to conduct research in the area and establish what we hope to be a meaningful and long-lasting relationship with the Adonai Center. We are still working towards our fundraising goal so that we can successfully build a compostable latrine, water tank, and visitor’s center for Adonai. Thanks for keeping up with us and for your continued support throughout 2013!
