Providing a dependable, easy-to-use and safe Automated External Defibrillator (AED's), in health clinics within a district in the West Bank is an immediate need. Your gift literally means the difference between life and death. Sudden cardiac arrest happens in children and adults and an electrical shock restarts the heart. IPCEE serves thousands of underprivileged children, Adults and families, which is essential to the economy, well-being, national security and build health in Palestine.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Our project addresses the 300,000 people living in almost 100 villages and one large city center, whose medical capacity is severely limited. The Palestinian Ministry of Health recently reported that cardiovascular disease is one of the two major causes of disease, and 25% of all deaths in the occupied Palestinian territories. The emergency healthcare system in this key district are ill-equipped to meet this growing medical needs.
How will this project solve this problem?
Our project will save hundreds of lives! Formal certified ACLS training of healthcare professionals leads to definitive improvement in saving lives. We established a pragmatic, collaborative relationship with one of the largest, most sophisticated teaching hospitals in northern Israel and the Palestinian Ministry of Health, based in Nablus. A prominent Palestinian-Israeli, Emergency Medicine physician has agreed to train all of the 120 Doctors, Nurses and key medical personnel in the District.
Potential Long Term Impact
We can save hundreds of lives! The lack of resuscitation skills of nurses and doctors in basic and advanced life support has been identified as a contributing factor to poor outcome in cardiac arrest victims. Successful resuscitation after cardiac arrest requires early recognition of cardiac arrest, rapid activation of trained responders, timely initiation of early defibrillation and ACLS.
