Ten percent of children living in Mali, one of the most impoverished countries in the world, have no means of feeding themselves. ACFA provides lodging, food, health care and education to vulnerable children. With food in their bellies, ACFA children can now learn and dream of a future.
Children left on the street have no means of feeding themselves. Without food and a roof over their heads, these children cannot learn or thrive. This kind of lifestyle leads to even more troublesome situations, especially for girls. All of this contributes to economic and political instability.
ACFA has been taking in children living on the street since 2010 and has given them shelter, education, nutrition and healthcare. ACFA has now expanded to a 5 acre Complex where 25 toddlers live with a roof over their heads and who attend the Complex's community school which has a total of 100 children including from the surrounding impoverished villages. We feed all the children attending the school 3 nutritious meals a day, and all the children receive healthcare.
This program will allow children to learn and acquire skills to care for themselves and their future families. Children cannot learn or grow on an empty stomach. We also are incorporating lessons on the environment and have a vegetable garden for food and sustainability, teaching the children how to grow vegetables, take care of the environment and also to take care of sheep we have at the Complex.
