Summary
First Peoples is providing food aid to the San in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. We will transport goods into the Reserve to four communities. This will ensure the San's survival.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The San were unjustly evicted from their homes in Botswana's Central Kalahari Game Reserve and although some communities have returned home, they are on the brink of starvation and are no longer allowed access to their water sources. First Peoples is providing immediate access to food and water.
How will this project solve this problem?
First Peoples will transport food and water directly to the four San communities living inside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. This will ensure that the San and their culture are able to survive and begin to thrive again.
Potential Long Term Impact
260 people will be served. We will help the San negotiate with the government to regain traditional land and resource rights with an ultimate goal of community-based natural resource management. This is a community-driven solution to redress eviction
Project Message
"We want to go freely in our own land doing what we did in the old days."
