Mbeya region has the highest prevalence of HIV (9.7%). The result of this has been has 41,000 vulnerable children including orphans. These come from low income families. The results of this poverty make these children engage in worst forms of labour, lack of education, contracting of diseases and pregnancies because low income families cannot afford expenses in terms of food, education, illness and clothing expenses
Elimisha will identify laws for the rights of a child, translate it into local language called Kiswahili which is spoken and read by every Tanzanian. These will be distributed through sensitization meetings in the selected area where we are working. Our work will be to let the community understand the law of the rights of a child and its penalties and urge them to read and apply the law when they find that the right of a child is being violated.
The project will sensitize the communities to establish sustainable projects for helping children who are orphans and vulnerable, and will empowering their caregivers increase food security in their households for helping children who in schools sometimes have irregular attendance due to hunger caused by low income of the family
