Dear Project of the Month Club,
Summer is fast approaching and, in America, schools are letting out, pools are being uncovered and the backyard grills are firing up. As you make plans for playing at the beach or for visiting with family, your Project of the Month donations are still hard at work.
In May, the 177 members of this club raised $5,824 for “Help Save Victimized Wildlife” run by Wildlife Alliance. This project runs a world class rehabilitation center for injured or malnourished animals in Cambodia. Last year, 112 animals were born at the center and are being cared for by Wildlife Alliance staff but the majority of your Project of the Month gift will go toward caring for the center’s newest rescues as they often require round the clock care. The most recent arrivals include a leopard cat kitten that was rescued last month, and an infant pygmy slow loris that was brought to the center last week. (The infant pygmy slow loris is only 3.5 inches tall!)
June’s project is “Empowering Youth in Rural Uganda” run by Arlington Academy of Hope (AAH). AAH’s primary school for girls scores in the top 1% of schools nationwide, and has a 100% graduation rate. AAH also runs two health clinics that serve over 20,000 Ugandan’s per year. Your generous donations will go to advancing AAH’s goal of ending the crushing cycle of extreme poverty by funding girls mentoring projects, buying school books, providing tutoring opportunities, and supplying internships to teach job skills.
So, as you take some time for yourself this summer, remember the impact your gifts continue to do all around the world and we hope you feel good about making a difference in the lives of others. Be on the look out for another club update in July!
