Thank you so very much for helping to make our programs possible. Happy Trails Riding Center is primarily funded by donations and run by volunteers. Our riding lessons, camps and social opporutnities run from March - November each year. So far this year we have provided 222 total riding lessons to date. We eare estimating 252 by the time we end our 2012 season.
Happy Trails served 16 youth riders to date in our classes, and 17 adults with disabilities and special needs. We hosted a 6 person riding party for adults with disabilities, a large (approximately 70 person party for Down Syndrome Network Oregon – with 44 riders- approx 34 had down syndrome or other developmental disability. Of the 44 riders 5 were adults). So we are estimating our total served for riding was 22 adults and 55 youth and approximately 23 volunteers. In addition to riding, we do have social events such as our fall dance which was attended by 55 total people.
Here are emails we have received this summer regarding our program:
I felt honored to have been a part of it (volunteered at Down Syndrome Event at Happy Trails) Nicole, you have a wonderful organization. Thank you, Tonya B
Thank you for all that you have done. You made a little girl VERY happy. Alicia T (aunt & guardian of rider)
Thank you for giving him (Adam) the opportunity to attend (camp on scholarship)!!!!! His life had blossomed and he is slated to have a great summer! Leigh Anne (Outing provider)
Thank you Nicole for taking PJ on and giving him the chance to ride Darlin. He had so much fun and it warms our hearts, and my folks, to have him be so happy there. We went several days later to Bend and there was the option of a pony ride and he wasn't interested at all...nothing but Texas or Darlin for our guy... :-)
Thank you again, Lora and Peter R. (Parents of Rider)
