We provide a place to have fun and learn about horses. We only serve people with disabilities and special needs & their siblings. For some of our riders, this is the only fun activity they can do.
In our area, approximately 10 percent of the population has a disability or special need. The year Happy Trails started we were the only activity for people with disabilities and special needs offered through our local parks departments. Some of our students need 3 volunteers to be able to ride a horse. We are primarily run by volunteers and funded by donations. We are at capacity for a volunteer organization and need to hire staff to be able to provide to our growing number of riding students.
Raising funds will help us meet our budget and have paid staff to run this non-profit that is currently at capacity.
Sustaining our programs will help to provide a therapeutic and recreational activity for the under served population we are serving. We also provide a place for people with disabilities and special needs to learn skills for future employment.
It makes me happy to see Emmy soooo happy doing what she has been dreaming of, riding and jumping. You know it is hard to find people like you in this world who accommodate children like ours.
