Meet Kate Foundation
Changes in the boardAfter a lot of dedication and hard work, we said goodbye to two of our Dutch board members, Jurriaan and Joline. Even though they are still very committed to Meet Kate, they were no longer able to combine their professional lives with volunteering for Meet Kate. However, the board gained a couple new members. Nienke Mauritz follows in the shoes of Jurriaan as treasurer. Nienke lived in Ghana in 2011 and 2012 and got to know Kelly and Meet Kate very well. Her enthusiasm about the projects and her believe in the foundation made her commit to the cause, even after returning to The Netherlands.Expansion of sustainability projectsAs you know, we have started several sustainability projects in Ghana to help raise money for the Children's Home. One of our enterprises is a chicken farm, which up to October 2012 consisted of 1000 chickens. Thanks to a hughe contribution of the Achmea Foundation, we are now expanding from 1000 to 4000 chickens! This will mean much more income for the Children's Home and more security for its future. The Meet Kate AcademyThe past few months, a great team of construction workers have worked very hard to make the dream of a Meet Kate Academy come true. And in January 2013, it will. The grand opening of the primary school will take place on January 25th, and everyone is welcome to join in this happy occasion. If you're unable to make it, check our Facebook and Twitter pages for frequent updates.
