What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The communities surrounding the nodal schools where the Dell YouthConnect Program is being implemented are surrounded by unskilled /semi skilled population. Majority are from economically weaker sections of the society and to meet their basic needs, children drop out of school and are engaged in child labor.80% of the children work in unorganized sector. The project 'Bricks to Books' aims to bridge the gap in education inequity and increase awareness of the rights enshrined in the constitution
How will this project solve this problem?
Reach out to the communities and engage in following activities: We plan to organize 'Awareness Campaigns', 'Rallies' , distribute 'Pamphlets ' & orient parents on the importance of education. Facilitate child & adult education by adopting 'Each One Teach One ' . Set up a 'Community Library' to attract children and provide opportunities for them to get formal schooling by giving monetary support to buy books, stationery, uniform & fees.
Potential Long Term Impact
Since poverty is the root cause of the problem, emphasis would be laid on improving the economic conditions of the families by helping them identify opportunities to raise thier standard of living. The project will also create awareness in the communities, understand the importance of education and provide monetary support to help children get into mainstream schools. The project aims to reach out to communities across the country and help a minimum of 1000 Children.
