2012 Accomplishments

In 2012, Step Out; Walk to Stop Diabetes hosted 1,800 participants and raised nearly $250,000.

A few highlights of the American Diabetes Association in 2012 include:

The American Diabetes Association Expo served nearly 5,000 people, offering free screenings, cooking demonstrations, education and the opportunity to see many diabetes products that are on the market by visiting approx. 80 vendor booths.

More than 1,000 teachers and school staff were trained through our Safe at School program.

In June, we launched our new Living with Type 2 Diabetes program and signed up more than 2,000 people to receive year-long education on diabetes.

Our CEO, Larry Hausner, visited Portland and delivered our Community Update in October.

More than $1 million was awarded by the American Diabetes Research Foundation to Oregon researchers studying type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

More than 400 medical professionals attended our Annual Diabetes Practice Update to further their diabetes education.

Thank you for your support of the American Diabetes Association.  These accomplishment are made possible because of you and your support of the American Diabetes Association.
