The stream of volunteer energy will experience Slovak cities on 13 and 14 June 2014. Employees of companies who work as managers, HR professionals, bankers or directly in the production will take in their hands colors, brushes, shovels to beautify their surroundings or devote their time to seniors or people with disabilities. They join thousands of volunteers who take the part in the biggest corporate volunteering event in Slovakia and Central Europe - Our Town.
We will prepare for volunteers more than 200 activities in cities: Bratislava, Galanta, Sered, Šala, Nové Zámky, Pezinok, Trnava, Zilina, Spišská Nová Ves, Košice, Zilina, Liptovský Hrádok, Partizánske.
Naše Mesto linked volunteers as well as competitors
Last year, volunteers hung on specific lamps in the length of several meters at the shabby bus stop under a bridge in Bratislava. "We purposely chose this activity, called Flew, because it was outdoors and creative,“ said marketing manager of one bank, which also came with his team." Repainting bus stop under the SNP bridge during a night in a Green Square was kind of street art. We knew it would not last long. Therefore, we chose last year installation of 5 large lanterns. They were from steel construction to which volunteers reeled kilometers of tape packs, "revealed Matúš Vallo from OZ Mestské zásahy, who joined Naše Mesto on a regular basis. Without replacing the light will illuminate 15,000 hours. Reeling of the tapes and hanging lanterns linked not only volunteers but also competitors, whereas fluorescent lights and electricity is paid by corporate partners.
What’s happening in Naše Mesto these days
We have opened in March call for non-profits to submit proposals for volunteer activities. Activities can be suggested by non-profits, school, kinder gardens, municipalities, civic associations, individuals. They have to contribute to better living conditions for different target groups. We will check all the activities and provide applicants with grants to secure basic needs (material, plants, colors, cleaners, etc.). We will aslo organize training for all applicants focused on tools and ways how to motivate and work with volunteers.
All volunteer activities will be published on the website www.nasemesto.sk The actual on-line registration for individual volunteer activities will be open on May 12, 10:00 am. For corporate partners we will organize in May the training how to launch internal communication, how to work and recognize volunteers.
Several changes were made on the website Nase Mesto. We have changed selection criteria for volunteers to pick up the activity. The description of the activity is now more detailed and summary.
Next days we will be focused on internal communication and trainings for NGOs as well as companies.
