This project provides revolutionary, nutrient-rich foods to vulnerable children in Tanzania. Treated with Plumpy’nut®, children suffering from the worst form of malnutrition recover with 90% success.
Malnutrition is an underlying factor in over 50% of deaths of children under five. In Tanzania, many families cannot afford to feed their children. If there is not enough food, vulnerable children are the first to suffer, and when children do no have access to essential micronutrients, the damage is irreversible. This project will treat 100 children who are suffering from malnutrition and prevent 50 vulnerable children from falling into malnutrition.
This project supplies nutrient-rich Plumpy’nut® to treat children who are identified as malnourished. The food helps the children to survive so they can ultimately recover, gain weight, build stronger immune systems, and have healthy futures.
It is vital to reach children under the age of three. During this small window of opportunity, we have a chance to ensure that children not only survive but are able to learn in school and grow to their full potential.
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
