A new future for a family

Our own Rickshaw!
Our own Rickshaw!

Hi Everyone!

Everybody here at People First hopes you had a great Easter Break.

Well thanks to you we have been able to provide our first cycle rickshaw. Let me tell you about the family.

The photo shows Mr Timal Paswan and his family of two boys.

He is very poor and he has only a one  room house where he lives with his family.

For many years he has been riding the rickshaw but he did not have own rickshaw . He takes rickshaw on rent and earns some money for his living. He has two sons and whatever he earns to with the rickshaw he paid 25 % of his income to rickshaw owner. But today he has his own rickshaw.

At this level let's be clear what this means a 25% increase in income could mean the difference between being able to buy some vegetables for dinner instead of just rice.

Mr Paswan told me his income is partly seasonal as he earns more in the winter when the tourists come and he tries to save a little. In the winter on a good day he can earn up to 500 rupees a day ( about $10 USD), in the summer less. But you can see at these margins what a huge difference a 25% rise in Income can make.

So thank you all and remember we can name a rickshaw after a person or persons or group so please help so we can provide more rickshaws to families like Mr Paswan. And we offer support and even basic english training too!

With Thanks and Best Wishes,

Deepak
