Summary
Pass the Gas is warming up people’s lives. We are helping neighbors overcome obstacles in accessing credit and basic services taken for granted in the developed world.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
There is a glaring lack of infrastructure in Moreno in the province of Buenos Aires, giving rise to health, safety and comfort issues. In response, we partnered with neighbors, a gas company and the state to install gas network infrastructure. 2.483 families were connected to the network in the pilot project via a repayment system and can now enjoy hot showers, heating in winter and properly cooked meals. Unfortunately, 500 families were left out because they lack the financial requirements.
How will this project solve this problem?
Donations will be used to connect 10 of these households to the gas network, improving well-being, increasing saving capacities and boosting property values: Pass the Gas promotes social inclusion and a better quality of life for families in need.
Potential Long Term Impact
A higher standard of living in these homes will lead to long term improvements in health, education and job opportunities for the community. Pass the Gas will be used as a mobilizing event to complete similar infrastructure projects in the future.
Project Message
“The poorest people heat their homes with coal. They spend a fortune heating their homes. When you have gas, there is a fundamental change in your life.”
- Elena Gómez, Beneficiary of project and neighborhood promoter
