Animal-Kind International supports existing animal welfare orgs run by local people in Ghana, Malawi, Namibia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Honduras, Jamaica, Armenia & Bosnia. There are few opportunities to raise funds & supplies for animal welfare in these countries so they need to look to outside supporters for assistance. AKI does the due diligence on the orgs, ensures they track use of AKI funds & always sends 100% of donations to our partner orgs to be used only for animal welfare.
Animal welfare organizations (AWOs) in poor countries (where AKI's partner orgs work) have few opportunities to raise funds within their countries & must look for supporters in wealthier countries. These AWOs have the drive, the volunteers, the know-how to solve animal welfare problems in their own countries, they only lack funds & supplies. AKI brings donors together with AWOs that need support. Working together, so much can be accomplished for animals in these countries.
Donors in the US & elsewhere may be wary of supporting an org that they know little about. Members of AKI's board have directly worked with all AKI partners; we do the due diligence so that donors are assured their funds are used only for animal welfare; we provide donors with detailed reports; & we link donors directly to the people doing the work on the ground. The AWOs are able to build more sustainable organizations; donors can share in the achievements. Support to AKI orgs goes a long way!
AKI supports AWOs that most need the help. But not only that, we ensure their programs & activities are worthy of our support & we help our partner orgs become sustainable institutions so they will be long-term advocates for animal care in their communities. AKI helps AWOs in 10 countries; & supports their local staff; who help over 2000 animals/year (dogs, cats, donkeys, horses). With support from caring people in wealthier countries, we are able to reduce suffering of animals & educate people.
